As we begin 2026, I’ve found myself reflecting on the purpose of this website. This time last year, I created this blog as a place to share my thoughts – partly for myself and partly for anyone else who might be interested. Yet one year on, I have only written three posts.
In fact, I had almost forgotten about the existence of this website. It wasn’t until my previous host provider notified me that my website hosting plan was due to expire that I remembered all of the ideas I once had.
I am writing this post as a way to process my own thoughts. I am not really putting much effort into the structure or flow of the post but simply writing down things that come to mind. I find this to be a good way to process my thoughts and think more clearly.
When I started this blog, I made a point of avoiding strict templates or themes. The goal was to allow myself the freedom to write about what I want, when I want. However, the downside of this format is that it’s very easy to forget to write anything at all.
I thought that I would make lots of posts about random adventures but I found that most adventures were fairly uneventful and not really worth writing about. For example my first walk of the year, around Dovestone Reservoir. Here is a cool photo from that walk:

It was a nice walk, but probably wouldn’t be that interesting to write about. Perhaps my next post will be about another interesting reservoir trip though!
This year, I am going to try something new. I will aim to make at least one post per month. I hope this will help hold me accountable and give myself the chance to really explore what I can do with this space. I will deliberately try to vary the content as much as possible. We will see whether any of it turns out to be interesting.
Here’s to a year of posts!
Until next time,
Emily
